Veterinary health support
They support aquaculture, public aquariums and research in disease prevention and diagnosis, health surveillance, biosecurity, therapeutics, reproduction and the improvement of husbandry practices.
Two specialist veterinarians serving aquaculture, public aquariums and research.
Co-founders and co-directors of Vetofish since 2006, Dr Emmanuel Leguay and Dr Emmanuel Meunier work exclusively in aquatic-animal health and welfare.
They support aquaculture, public aquariums and research in disease prevention and diagnosis, health surveillance, biosecurity, therapeutics, reproduction and the improvement of husbandry practices.
On-site consultations and interventions, post-mortem examinations, sampling, interpretation of results, husbandry advice and establishment monitoring across a wide variety of freshwater and marine species.
Vetofish monitors aquatic facilities associated with CNRS, Inserm and INRAE, supporting health surveillance, mortality investigation, infectious and zoonotic risk prevention, welfare and experimental practices.
They train veterinarians, researchers, technicians, keepers and aquaculture professionals in pathology, diagnosis, biosecurity, therapeutics, welfare and the particular needs of aquatic species.
They contribute to RESAMA — the French Health Study Network for Aquatic Model Animals and Wildlife — through health visits, monitoring tools, analysis and good-practice guidance. Emmanuel Meunier is particularly involved in its development and digital tools.
Two complementary sets of training and experience dedicated to aquatic-animal health.

Emmanuel Leguay is a veterinary surgeon and holds a Master of Science in Aquatic Veterinary Studies from the University of Stirling. His background includes experience in aquaculture farming, diagnosis and applied research in France and the United Kingdom.
For several years, he has contributed to CNRS training courses devoted to aquatic species used in research and teaches fish and amphibian pathology at Oniris. He also participates in national and international working groups on aquatic-animal health, welfare and health monitoring.

Emmanuel Meunier is a veterinary surgeon with a postgraduate qualification in aquaculture, aquatic pathology and the environment.
Before founding Vetofish, he worked with aquaculture health-protection organisations, conducting field surveys, screening campaigns and bacteriological and molecular analyses. His experience also includes health monitoring of marine fish at Biarritz Aquarium and research into cryptocaryonosis in marine fish.
